Watermelon Granita | Yellow Watermelon Granita

Watermelon Granita, the easiest frozen dessert, you can make with readily available ingredients in your pantry. It's just the watermelon juice in crystallize form.

Last week while purchasing groceries, we wrongly pinged the yellow watermelon instead of regular one. While cutting only, we came to know and it looks so beautiful inside,but the sweetness  of the melon is little less for our tasting.So i reached for watermelon recipes other than juice,then i came to know about this granita recipe. I never tasted this before, so thought of give a try and it's really tasty and definitely a thirst quencher in summer.

Watermelon Granita

Preparation Time : 8 to 10 hr | Cooking Time : 110 minsServes : 5-6

Yellow Watermelon - 2 cups(Chopped)
Sugar - to taste
Mint - 8 to 10 leaves
Lemon juice - 1 1/2 tbsp 

Chop the watermelon roughly and put it in blender.Squeeze the lemon juice.

Tear the mint leaves and  add it in blender along with sugar.Blend it in the juicer/mixie well.

Pour the juice in freezer safe bowl and freeze it until the ice begin to form around the edges(it may take 1-2 hrs depends on the amount you make) Take it out,scrape it with fork well. Again put it in freezer for overnight or atleast 6-8 hrs.

Scrape it with fork and serve immediately. 


  • If you dont have mint leaves, omit it.
  • Adjust sugar according to your taste and watermelon sweetness.
  • You can use normal watermelon too.
  • No need to strain the juice.
