Parrupu Payasam is one of the delicious payasam . It doesnt require any fancy ingredients, still it tastes good.
Moong dal/ Paasi Paruppu - 1/4 cup
Tapioca/Javvarisi -1 1/2 tbsp
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Cardamom powder - 1/8 tsp
Cashew - few
Coconut bits - few
Ghee - 1/2 tbsp
Water - 100 ml
Milk - 100 ml
Soak the dal and tapioca for 30 mins and then cook dal and tapioca with 1/4 cup water in pressure cooker for 1 whistle and keep it ready. Once the pressure released , add the remaining water and bring into boil.
Then add the Jaggery and sugar and cook it until the jaggery dissolves and the mixture gets thick
In the mean time, fry the cashew and coconut bits in ghee and add to the boiling mixture along with cardamom powder.
Cook for about 7-8 minutes in the medium flame. Then add the warm milk and switch off the flame.
Yummy Paruppu Payasam is ready.
- Dont over cook the moong dal.If it's mushy, it wont taste good.
- You can add whatever nuts you want.Even you can add roasted peanut in this payasam.
- I highly recommend to add coconut bits, it's crunchy and also tastes great with moong dal.
